Community Spotlight - OzHarvest Foundation
The Wests Group, through its ClubGRANTs initiative, is proud to support OzHarvest with an $18,000 donation, which will help them deliver an extra 36,000 meals to people in need in our community.
OzHarvest is ‘Nourishing our Country’ through its food rescue service, making sure good quality food does not go to waste and is delivered to local charities. Operating year-round, their yellow vans serve over 18 local suburbs, including Cooks Hill, Mayfield, Wallsend, and Waratah, ensuring that nutritious food reaches those in need.
In the Newcastle LGA, OzHarvest supports 30 charities with free food deliveries using three vans. As food insecurity rises, 75% of the charities they support report increased demand. Without OzHarvest, nearly 10,000 vulnerable community members would go hungry. In 2024, they delivered over 2.6 million meals across the wider Newcastle region and aim to surpass that in 2025.
