The Nelson Bay Diggers Swimming Club, one of our many valuable Community Clubs at Wests Nelson Bay, has a rich history dating back over 70 years. Established as a social networking group for ex-service men and women who had returned from war looking for a path in life to gain much needed support.

Today, it has now grown into a vibrant community organisation which is well respected throughout Australia. Swimmers continue to participate in the Australian Infantry Forces (AIF) Championships held in a different location throughout Australia, each with over 700 swimmers converging on iconic towns like Nelson Bay, who have hosted the event four times. The Club also participates in an annual 4-way swim between Forbes, Gosford, Cobar and Nelson Bay held each November.

This non-competitive swim group includes members ranging in age from 5 to 84, catering for all genders. They meet every Sunday at 9am during the summer months at the Tomaree Aquatic Centre, fostering a sense of community and promoting physical fitness.

Wests Nelson Bay is proud to support the Nelson Bay Diggers Swimming Club by hosting their annual presentation and Christmas party in The Auditorium, celebrating the dedication and camaraderie of this enduring group. We look forward to supporting the group for many more years to come.
